Hi,

Im looking for a little advice. When running Hot water, in order for the Boiler to kick in I need to turn the Tap on full bore. If I just turn the tap half way, then the boiler will not fire. This is quite a recent thing and am wandering if it could be a sticky DHW flowswitch?

Can these be striped and cleaned or would i need a new one? I'm moving house in a couple of weeks and want to fix it but not wanting to spend too much either!

Any advice is appreciated.

It is a failing hydraulic unit with either a diaphragm or gland problem. Quite easy to replace either or better both. Parts about £18 for both.

Or the entire unit for about £40 may be easier. I saw a British Gas repair last week where for their convenience they replaced the whole unit.
