Pottern Puma 80 - not firing

I would expect that it is faulty.

Thats quite common on your model. I repair several every month.

Assuming it's a Perm pilot, you could try typing "thermocouple" into google

the most likely fault

The pilot light is on and it appears to make all the right noises but refuses to fire.

It aint making the right noises if you cant hear the burner fire :!:
If you are indeed a ham fisted amateur and not a competent engineer or even anything like; it would not be wise for us to suggest you go changing ignition PCB's and stuff

Thanks guys- was thinking it was the thermocouple as I have had trouble in the past getting the pilot to light- will get an engineer to look at it just wanted a little knowledge just so I didn't end up with a cowboy as the misses would be likely to be at home, and she has a habit of just saying yes to anything- (well anything that involves spending money).

Come on guys, if the pilot's staying alight it ISN'T the thermocouple!

Most likely causes are fan or pcb.

yeah I was competely wrong, wasn't I

I blame the empty bottle of Laphroaig ...

Here's a few questions answer these and we might have a clue

Does the pump run?
Does the fan run?
Does it work for heating?
Does it work for hot water?
Anything else that you think we need to know?
