Hi,

Our aged Potterton Netaheat is experiencing a problem. The fan starts for about 5 secs then cuts out and the boiler does not light. No spark generation or anything. It continues to do this time after time. It fired up first thing this morning to give hot water (central heating is currently off), but will not fire up again. any ideas before a call out fee is paid up!

Thanx

I consider that is inappropriate advice!

The APS is a safety device and that should only be worked on by a competent person.

The fan and the sampling points for the APS are inside the combustion chamber.

Non trained people should not open the combustion chamber because they dont have the skills to be able to test that its safely refitted.

In the case of your particular boiler, its a positive pressure case design and if not properly sealed can discharge carbon monoxide into the room. People have been killed by your model.

Inappropriate advice should be removed by the mad mods on this site but instead they prefer to move postings round.

I usually find that those symptoms turn out to be the PCB at fault but before changing an expensive part everything else needs to be tested first.

Tony is right, this is particularly not a good boiler to do diy on that involves opening it.
