Potterton Netaheat Electronic 16/22 - system flush

I have a Potterton Netaheat Electronic 16/22 boiler which is 'banging' quiet a bit. Could flushing the system potentially cause me problems (exposing leaks, etc) or should it be safe to do? Reading about acidic/non-acidic cleaners I get a bit confused about the significance.

I guess flushing is likley to be more effective than just adding a noise-reducer?

Any brands (flushing or noise-reducer) particularly recommended?

there are some serious safety issues witht this boiler. so i would suggest giving it a good flush in preparation for fitting a new boiler. in the meantime, invest in a battery powered co detector and keep it in the room with the boiler.
