Possibly yet another problem with my Potterton Prima F after being advised to operate the reset button after failing to ignite yesterday.
I've had to reset again today after another ignition failure and have noticed the boiler fires up for about two minutes then stops for a minute and fires up again. This continuous, although the rads are hot so no complaints there! Just worried about the cost and also stress on the boiler.
As said before, only been in this house a few months and trying to get used to a new system. (The old owner no longer with us).
I wonder, is this Prima F a good Potterton model. I guess it's about 15 years old. Have tried to locate the original installer, Paul the Gas, for a service, but I guess he no longer trades.
Any advice/help appreciated.

Best wishes from,

primas are usually reliable boilers. It sounds like you have a circulation problem, the pump could be on its last legs or you could have a partial blockage somewhere, in the cold feed usually. Where abouts in herts are you?

Thanks mickyg for the reply. I'm in Broxbourne.
Since moving we have had a rewire and plumbing work done in which the plumbers in hand with the sparks changed the Mid posn valve and tidied the Block Terminal. Saying that, I'm not sure the system was fit for purpose before they amended.
The plumbers were oil fired specialists so were unable to service this gas boiler. They are also not local (Wales).
I'm wondering if there maybe two faults.
Again any ideas welcomed.

So if you run the heating from cold does the boiler still only fire for a couple of minutes? If so, when it shuts down, feel the pipes on top of the boiler, if one of them is almost too hot to touch then its reached temperature and shut down as it should and probably the heat isn't getting away from the boiler quick enough. If its not hot at all there maybe a fault with the boiler.

btw I am 10mins up the road, my email is in my profile.
