WELL !!! where to start, being a woman I will try very hard to be CONCISE AND NOT WAFFLE.
1) HOT WATER OK but only upstairs rads working very WEAKLY.
2) Had a new pc board ?
3) two radiators have leaked recently and the one nearest the boiler ie kitchen one still leaking lightly with a bowl underneath.
3) boiler also leaking intermittently from what I think appears to be the main big pipe into the boiler.
4) If I turn the thermostat up it fires and runs for about 30 seconds and then cuts out.
5) NO LEAKING HOT WATER TAPS, OHHHHHHHHHHHHH I wish this was the case after reading many forums.
6) could it be the wax thingy ? or diverter ?
7) would the leaking radiator mess the whole thing up ? but then its been working ok since the radiator burst at the bottom with a BANG !!!! the next radiator in sequence then started to leak very lightly.
8) I know that the system has never been cleaned out.
9 ) I also know that I very much think that i might like to become a plumber, if |I didn't have three beautiful kids that I love to keep warm when its brass monkeys outside.
HELP I know the problem is huge but I need warmth in my life.

As it has never been cleaned and you had a rad pop which indicates corrosion, diverter or wax thingie is pretty good guess

Dear Bengasman,

Thanks I guess chivalry still exists, I don't mind admitting that the whole system is a pile of C--p. But I wouls like to try and understand these things rather than be a complety useless waste of time.
So do you reckon if the system was drained and cleaned and two new rads put in place + a new waxy thingy to start with or perhaps a whole new diverter, I might be warm or possibly even hot !

Well Im bleeding the rads now and also bloody freezing, just bleeding the rads in some sort of desperate frenzy !! BUT the rad furthest from the potty boiler is HOT, why are the downstairs ones not working ?

I do wish people would stop bleeding rads!

There should be a law against it.

Although it probably gives plumbers 20% of their work dealing with the problems it causes.

Tony

Sorry Tony, but why do they sell such lovely brass beauties !!! Its the first time I used it and i have no skin left  in the mean time a glass of red wine is my only consolation and a puny puma ! any ideas

They are like the lateral thigh trainers which people buy, never use, and hide away in their cupboards never the see the light of day again.

I am forced to drink cheap spanish plonk tonight as I have not been able to buy proper supplies for a few weeks.

Tony

A day without wine is like a day without sunshine or HEAT !!!! seriously now :? what would you recommend ? apart from the new rads and waxy thingy or devious diverter, it all sounds so exciting. But I don't want excuses now, just some genuine advise :)

I recommend you go to bad!

Tonight after the theatre I went to these two sisters with a leaking boiler.

They had had their upstairs neighbour in their flat until 4 am a couple of days ago! ( just talking )

One is really agressive but the other is much quieter and I like her and her little tops.

Tony

since when do the words genuine and plumber fit in one sentence?
however, Tony is good, and he might be tempted......

Well I guess I was in the wrong place at the wrong time ! SERIOUSLY don't want any more pumps replacing or boards !!! will work on the wax thingy and rads tomorrow and throw awy the brass key. Plumbing must be fun !! I might just go for it, lots of old wincyette ladies !! whom Im sure would trust me

don't want any more pumps replacing
Have you had the pump replaced? Weak pump would give the symptoms you have. Yours could just be blocked.
Yes the other suspect is the diverter which contains, as you say, the waxy wimwom.
WHere in Surrey are you?

Dear Chris,
thanks for replying, yes had a new pump back in September, but can check to see if its blocked. Otherwise will try and purchase the wax thing as i know this has never been replaced, any ideas where we might get one ? we are in Surbiton. Im pretty certain that the whole system must need cleaning as this has never been done. :D
