Have just returned from honeymoon to a cold house.

My Potterton Suprima 40L (18 months old) is proudly displaying the infamous flashing 'Red Light'

- I tried to manually reset, by pressing the button.
It then goes though the motions, flashes green/amber, fan switched on but
then does not spark / ignite, then the light starts flashing red again.

- Have tried switching off at fused spur for half an hour, etc
But still the same effect, boiler will reset, fan will come on but will not spark/ignite.

I know everyone suggests a common faulty PCB, but anything else ?

No it definatly sounds like a PCB fault.............Ive got one in the garage if you fancy a drive Northwards!

95% PCB
1% APS / flue
1% Over heat stat
1% Wiring
1% External fault
1% everthing else

Cheers guys, will let you know how we get on.

(i.e. me requesting help from the father-in-law)

p.s. Harrogate would appear to be a bit of a long trip, but thanks all the same.

Would put a little more than 1% on the gas valve, but in this instance it is the pcb..

HO HO HO

By the way is it just me or are customers a bit more angry this year ;')

... and I just turned down a nice job in Millbridge, said I didn't know anyone close ...

Thanks for the offer, but it's one of those "relatively" long journeys. :(

Aww thats shame

if your stuck for cover in this area matey email me

Heating's back on but it seems to be an intermittent fault.

My Father-In Law used the installation guide / fault finder flow chart
and the flashing red light, 3 to 4 times a second seems to suggest a
Flow Switch Fault.

When the controller was flashing Green/Orange there was 240v being
sent to the pump, so we can only deduce that the pump motor is dodgy /
lose connection somewhere ?

p.s. probably should have said that the pump is a fair bit older than the boiler, but no idea how old. For what it's worth, the pump is a Myson Compact (CP53 ?)

Keeping fingers crossed that it keep going tonight, but luckily the temp is not dropping below freezing and I'm off to the folks for christmas.

The newer SE suprimas came with a flow switch to protect the HE which is now replaced with the 'casting thermistor'. Its a simple 2wire switch whiched interupted the APS.
