I have an 8 year old potterton suprima 60. About 2 years ago we had a lock out problem and had the circuit board replaced. All fine until recently when it started happening again. Got my central heating engineer back in. He discovered that the valve in the airing cupboard was sticking due to an old undetected leak from a pipe above that had caused crusty limescale on the valve. He gave it a clean up and said it was fine. Did need another circuit board as lock out problem still there. All fine for 48hrs but now cutting out again! This problem is accompanied by lots of noise and a sound in the tank as if water is gyesering up into the (?) header tank.

I know nothing about central heating. I am a freezing cold mother of 4 boys and don't know what to do next. Am waiting for my central heating engineer to return!!

probably the pump has gone

if its not running the water boils and the boiler gets noisy

But seriously...
This is something to bear in mind with Suprima... The motherboard is a son of a 'b'.. I suffered daily resets (flashing red light), no hot water or heating. I reomved the motherboard and re-soldered all the main joints, especially the sockets that the off board sensors connect to. Its been running sweet ever since....
