I have recently installed a power shower in my house and I am having some difficulties with it. When the temperature control is set a maximum (i.e. hot) the water is only luke warm, any lower than this and it's cold. :(

I personally beleive I have installed the system correctly and the flow through both the hot and cold pipes is good and fairly even.

I have spoken to the manufacturers and they have said that my hot water is too hot, and that it is causing air lock to develop.

Surely If I have an airlock the flow from the existing pipes or taps should splutter, which is not the case.

Any ideas?

i am not a plumber or heating engineer.

What happens if you reduce (or turn off) the cold supply? (just for testing)

are they both in the same size pipe?

is the cold water supply from the loft tank?

What type of central heating system do you have?

Is it a thermostatically controlled shower?

I had a similar problem with a combi boiler and a thermostatic shower.

Turns out that the cold water pressure in my house is so good that if you turn the hot taps on full it overloads the boiler and you get cold water.

Also my shower had an adjustment to change the balance of hot to cold water for a particular temperature. I adjusted this to give maximum hot water.

By getting the position of stop cock right I got a very hot shower!

Even if it isn't a combi boiler, if the pressure of your cold water is much greater than your hot, you might be getting too much cold water through the shower so try turning your stop cock down and see if it improves.
