I'm fitting an electric shower and wondered if there is a specific cable rating to run. I plan on running it down a stud wall, under the floor and down the kitchen wall into a fuse box. Is this correct? Any advice would be great.
You need to know the output of the shower to calculate the cable size, also if any insulation is within the areas of the route. The cable must also by routed within the permitted safe zones and the shower/cable will require 30mA RCD protection. The location of the shower is deemed special and will require to be notified to building controls.
Your question is similar to asking
"I'm going to drive a car, what sort of fuel should I use?"
Give us a chance to help you! An electric shower, yes.
What sort, a mixer/booster pump?, or maybe an instant heat one that runs of mains water supply?
What is the rating of the unit?
