I have a powermax 135 (I know poor me) which has developed a lovely whistle that sounds like the noise produced when you rub the rim of a wine glass. This can be heard from outside flat and starts 10-20mins after firing up in the morning (I was away over w/e so had switched off and took 30 mins to start yesterday so suggests related to the water temp to me).

Have looked at a few of the posts on here and there seem to be 2 main possibilities - a gas/air valve that needs adjusting or kettling.

While the CH heats the radiators as soon as turned on, the water circuit has quite poor flow (in particualr the shower runs hot for only a couple of mins then goes cold) and as soon as more than one tap opened one stops immediately.

I had the CH system de-scaled about 3/4 years ago (for a small fortune) and recall that the engineer said they didnt deal with the water circuit side, is that right?

It does sound like a air-gas ratio problem and make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing to set this up as it can be very tricky and needs specialist equipment ie digital manometer

Had a couple of these recently with the whistling noise (starts after 10 minutes) , Turned out to be water damage (corroded staining) to the stainless steel gauze in the burner head. The interesting thing was these boilers had just been installed (Not H/E) on a well know house builders site, Yet the data badge showed they were manufactured over 2 years ago. So what i would like to know is do these major house builders by in bulk and store in a damp warehouse or are merchants obtaining them from somewhere else.

The waranty on appliance run from when the first tennant moves into the property by this time it has bee used as the site office/hut or show house for a year.
