I will soon be repainting the kitchen walls and ceiling,
i have filled in all the cracks and holes in the walls and ceiling sanded them down nice and smooth, so before i repaint do i need to put a coat of primer on all areas that have been filled?

Will one coat be enough before repainting the whole area?

Yes that will be fine, it's just the same as putting a mist coat onto new plaster.
Don't worry about the filler absorbing the mist coat, that's what it is supposed to do. Just incase you didn't know.

Maybe roll over the filled areas once first, to try and keep the texture consistent?

Filled areas often look flatter than other areas, so rolling them once first can help match the texture to the rest of the wall.
