I 've recently filled in a number of cracks/holes in some walls with white Unibond Flexible Decorating Filler (overpaintable). Unfortunately after several coats of Leyland matt emulsion the filler is visible as a shiny 'stain'. Sanded and repainted to no effect. Then tried International Stain Block Aerosol and repainted but again to no effect. Any suggestions?

Do you mean there is a coloured stain, or do you mean the surface is not the same texture as the rest of the wall?

mmmm yup , it will always show;

filling holes is what ur supposed to do not filling so u level the surace. u should have sanded down the filler to the hole/crack level n then maybe primed the filler with oil sealant paint n then painted over with emulsion.

its a problem i know but the filler is a different suface to the area surrounding it so it will react differently and have a different texture when over painting. minimal application would have worked.

if the cracks were large then u should have filled , sanded, sealed , n lined; then painted.
