I'm about to re-slate the front of my house with reclaims.

However I am considering an application to put a dorma window in. Obviously I should delay the slating until after the window goes in, but I really can't wait, and haven't the time for the window just now.

Question is, as the dorma will (if it gets done) be fairly low down the roof, and I won't want to strip back a massive area. Is there some way of preparing for the slates at a certain position, roughly inline with the top of the dorma, to be lifted at a later date?

And when it's done, how can I avoid a row of tinkles (I think they're called) to finish the 'patch' around the dorma?

Thanks.

Fix the slates in that area with thin gauge aluminium nails (2.65mm)
These will easily be cut through with a ripper later on.

there are several products on the market for invisible fixing them back.
Ask at your local roofing merchants which products they stock and choose which suits you.

ps dont stick them back with glue or black jack... etc
