Hi All,

I've had a few quotes to put down 38sqm of engineered oak flooring on to a 6 week old concrete slab.

Two of them were £750 to float the boards straight on, one was £1,140 to apply sealer/primer throughout and also stick the boards down with adhesive.

Is it generally best to stick the engineered stuff down rather than float, and how do the quotes sound?

Concrete slab or screed?

How thick?

Either way, I would be leaving it a while longer yet, unless you are 150% sure it is bone dry.

It won’t be bone dry for months depending on how thick it is.

What engineered is it? Tongue an grove or a click.

Glue down is better really but more prep.

If I was floating it I’d still put a moisture suppressant down and use timbermate excel underlay.

Gluing I’d put 2 coat liquid dpm down 1st.

Quotes sound fair to me.
