Sorry if this is a daft question but I would like to know what other people do.
We have had walls and ceiling skimmed prior to having a new kitchen fitted. We need to paint the walls tomorrow. The plaster has a nice smooth finish but if I wipe my hand over it there is some fine dust on the surface. What's the best way to prepare the walls? Can we get away with just giving them a quick brush or do people wash them down first ie use a damp cloth?
TIA

First you will need to give the wall a quick sand to take away any shine that over polishing may have caused. Then brush down the walls to remove the dust.

You will then have to give the new plaster a mist coat of Matt emulsion about 30% water 70% emulsion, do a test area first to make sure the plaster absorbs it, if it doesn't then add more water.
