Hi,

All the internal doors in my house are "woodgrain effect" panelled doors - the sort you can buy in B&Q (and no doubt everywhere else). The doors are due a new coat of paint, but I was wondering whether it was okay to lightly sand them down in the normal way, like you would do with wooden doors? Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks
R

Just the same as a normal wooden door.. the grain effect makes them easier to paint IMO. A light rub down with 120 grade, wash, undercoat and then gloss.

good luck..

Or satin/eggshell..nicer finish IMO

Yep Gloss is a bit passe now. I went for the untextured look as no offence but you kinda see those textured doors bloody everywhere. Especially in new builds!

My flush doors have 1960`s BMC effect..........orange peel  .....very retro
