There has been a problem on our boiler for some months where the pressure drops to zero - the user manual states that this should normally be between 1 and 1.5 bar when cold. I drew this to the attention of the engineer prior to its annual service in January. Immediately following the service the pressure dropped very quickly to zero. I called the servicing agent who arranged for the engineer to return to fix the problem. He returned a couple of hours later and carried out the remedial work and explained that he needed to remove some "grit" from the system.

Following this the hot water and central heating in the radiators have been fine but the same dropping of pressure continues to occur. In addition there is no sign of a leak anywhere in the system. The servicing agent says this is not a problem and that it is OK to re-pressurize the system with this frequency. Does this sound right and is leaving the boiler running in this condition likely to have any impact on the its future wellbeing? Thanks in advance for any help.

You should not need to pressurise very often. It could be a leak, P.R.V. passing, expansion vessel or the H.E. Check the copper pipe that goes outside to see if its dripping.
