A far better way than trying to keep a stock of all the different threads is:
Get olive cutters, or,
olive pullers, or,
Take a few bits of old pipe, stick some olives on and find out what the easiest way for you is to cut the olives and crack them without damaging the pipe. About half way trough and then pushing them towards the end of the pipe with waterpump pliers does the trick for me if I don't have a cutter handy.
Once the funny thread is removed, you can stick a normal one on.
