Hi,
We have recently moved into a 1930s chalet bungalaow with a drop dead gorgous veranda. Knew it needed some renovation on moving discovered it was a rebuild. Builders have done a beutiful job now we need to paint it.
Have received different advice 1 apply exterior Sadolin alone or with Aliminium primer.
Any views out there please??

I think this depends on whether you want a 'natural' timber finish or a painted one.....if you fancy paint, then an aluminium primer should be fine - but if you prefer the natural look then Sadolin products are excellent.
Just follow their recommendations regarding an undercoat and all will be well.

You have to choose if you want a paint or wood stain. Aluminium primer is necessary if its a hardwood timber, if its softwood apply a primer or two coats of primer undercoat. Sikkens wood stains are very good and their xd gloss is my first choice.

Don't use any type of paint under a stain.

Bedec also make some good long lasting exterior paints

EDIT : When you say sadolin are you talking about superdec rather than one of their wood stains?
