Miss Patel lobbied Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove in April last year over a £20million contract for surgical masks for Pharmaceuticals Direct Ltd (PDL) after an approach from her former adviser Samir Jassal;

Weeks later the firm was awarded a no-bid, no-competition deal worth £102.6million to supply a better type of mask;

PDL secured its £102.6million contract for higher-quality FPP3 masks in July, with Mr Jassal playing a key role. Government lawyers have told the Good Law Project that after Mr Shergill submitted a quotation, Mr Jassal 'followed up with emails and phone calls'.

Senior officials were worried. In emails, they noted that the 'benchmark price' was £2.69 per mask, yet PDL was charging £5.13.

So we paid £100m for £50m worth of PPE. Bargain.

Tax revenue is just used by Tory MPs as a free money pit.

£20m for poor school kids was too much for many. Bad parents don't deserve more handouts.

I thought when it meant taking care of our own, it extended further than the friends and acqaintences of Ministers.

I note another twist and turn back to an old subject inserted early doors here at post #3

They’re the ones that were sent back.
That is another topic never debated when these "contracts" are aired. Do people not realise that there are clauses in contracts?
I was asking Sir G where the benchmark prices came from within the article he quotes.

Clauses like non delivery? Were they enforced on VIP lane contracts for non delivery?

ifty million face masks bought by the UK government as part of a £252m (€280m; $330m) contract at the height of the covid-19 crisis will not be used in the NHS because of safety concerns, the government has admitted.

The FFP2 masks, supplied under a contract awarded without advertisement or tender, have ear loops rather than head ties, and the fixings may not be adequate to protect NHS frontline staff from covid-19.

The government’s admission comes in court papers for a judicial review case brought by the Good Law Project and EveryDoctor. The two non-profit organisations argue that the decision to award the £252m contract to Ayanda Capital, a private family fund that specialises in currency trading, offshore property, and private equity, was unlawful, disproportionate, and irrational.

Of the 50 million masks, estimated to cost at least £150m, 43.5 million have been delivered, and further production has been paused.

Carrie-Antoinette spends £840 pounds a roll (of other people's money) on wallpaper

However, this is not her only extravagance.

I don't know how long Johnson usually keeps pole dancers, violinists, interior decorators and similar entertainers.

I wonder if she likes soft, sweet, enriched, yeast-based baked products?

"Priti with her nose in the trough?"

What do you expect from an immigrant family member who hates immigrants :rolleyes:

Tories, their donors and lobbyists are absolutely milking the Covid train, like rats up a drain pipe. They must have been rubbing their greedy hands with glee at the first mention of the words unaccountable procurement.

Greedy Tory bastads.
