Hi,
I have a pro combi exclusive 24 combi boiler fitted, I got up this morning to find it flashing L2, after turning it off and back on, it carried on flashing. We have no heating or hot water. After looking through the book the fault code says ignition lock out, the fix is check other gas appliance's and check the gas hasn't bee turned off. We don't have any other gas appliance's and I know the gas haven't turned us off, what else could be wrong?

Thanks guys/gals

P.s after reading the sticky note at the top, I'm not asking for advice on a DIY fix, that may brake any rules, just a idea what could be wrong and maybe a brief description, help me understand it abit more.

We cannot give you any "ideas" because otherwise people would use that advice to try their own repairs.

The only advice is to get a competent boiler engineer. Make sure you choose one who is happy with your model.

I understand what your saying, but it would be helpful to have abit of an idea about it, a slight understanding of how it works so when I do get a gas man out I can talk to him with abit of an idea. I have no interest at all in fixing it.

For instance, the fault code says it's an ignition problem, who do they ignite? Is it a simple thing like on an over/cooker, is it more likely to be something else?

Thanks
Dan

Even if you really don't want to try to fix it yourself others read this forum and would!

The forum rules sensibly prevent us giving any advice.

You can read on the internet how boilers work but they are quite complicated and most people repairing boilers have spent 1-3 years learning so its unlikely you would gain their breadth of experience just by reading on the web.

For a start do you know the breakdown voltage of air? And what power is required in a spark to ignite gas?

Or what proportion of gas and air need to be mixed to be ignited?

Tony
