I have a Black and Decker cordless drill. I opened the chuck to put in a 10mm drill bit, which is the largest the handbook says it will accommodate. After removing that drill bit, I found that the chuck has jammed in the wide open position. I can't shift it and so the drill is now useless. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the chuck to unwind again? The really annoying thing is that this happened only a few weeks after buying it.

Thank you,
Robert

My apologies for the delayed reply. I have tried both WD40 and tapping with a hammer, and neither have done any good. I have since contacted B&D service department who say that if oil won't release it then the chuck will have to be replaced.

Thank you for your help.

try it both ways as in over loosen before trying to close it
