Problem with hot water

We've noticed over the last few days that our hot water isnt as hot as it should be. It is timed to come on for about 1.5 hours in the morning and about 4 hours in the evening. (Same as the heating). We never usually run out of hot water but these last few days its been lukewarm.

Tonight as an experiment we put the hot water on "CONSTANT" and tried that and the water was hot - as it used to be.

Is there a problem with the timer??

Dont know if its connected, but 1 radiator downstairs goes stone cold every now and then. Its usually corrected by tapping it with a rubber hammer on the valve.

The radiator is cold tonight but its been fine for the last few days so I assume its not connected....

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

It might well be connected!

It sounds as if your system may be getting seriously sludged up!

Have you looked at your header tank lately?
