Water doesnt seem to stay hot

When the water is on (ie. timer is on and boiler fires up etc) the hot water is HOT. However it doesnt seem to stay hot..... It goes off about 7.30 am and by midday the water in the hot taps is lukewarm, and by late afternoon its as cold as in the cold taps. This has only started happeningover the last week or so - its as if the water isnt staying hot, or perhaps not enough is being heated up (although there seems plenty of hot water when the boiler is on).

Any suggestions please??

Its a Worcester... only about 4 years old

Ummmm if you mean a hot water tank, yes it does - in the airing cupboard - its got the insulation foam stuff around it.

Right what you may have is a leak on the pipes to hot taps , do any of the pipes go under concrete or floorboards downstairs

I dont think they do - they go straight up from the boiler in the kitchen to the airing cupboard above and we can see the pipes for the most of the way.

Is that the thing that moves round according to whether the water / heating is on etc??

If so we put a new one on only a couple of months ago..... how could it be that? Meaning, how could that affect the water going cold...??

Have you changed your programmer settings recently due to the fine weather? & does your clock have Hot water only settings?

Only changed the clock when the clocks changed ( if you get what I mean) have also, tried it on constant water rather than timed water for a short period but didnt seem to make any difference.

This morning I left the heating off but left the water on timed as usual but it was still cold by lunchtime. I was thinking to put it on constant instead of timed for alonger period and see if that made a difference.

I would suggest you have your programmer checked.

You may have a faulty motorised valve motor which is turning off before your entire cylinder is hot. After it has been on and turned off check that it has actually reached temp on cylinder stat ,you will hear a clik on most as you turn temp dial.. As for previous comment regards possible leak, to check this tie up ball valve and don`t use any hot tap and see if level drops in tank over a couple of hours, but if you definetley dont have any buried pipework don`t bother with that
