Problem with light switch

It seems to be a bit of a basic problem, but I can't seem to figure it out.

A light in my room used to be a tube light. We've disconnected it and put a normal one up there.

The light switch is just 2 red cables in the box.

The ceiling fitting has one bundle with red, black and grounding, and one bundle with red, red, and grounding.

It would seem logical that the second bundle would make the switch work, but it doesn't. The first bundle turns the light on, but the switch has no effect on it.

I've tried replacing the switch, and tried - through trial and error - all combinations, but none make the switch work.

Any advice?
Cheers.

First bundle;
The black should go to neutral, the red to the centre loop terminal.

Second bundle;
One red to live, other red to the centre loop terminal.

All grounds (earths) together in earth block.

Are you sure the lampholder is making good contact, switch is ok, etc?
