The pilot light on my boiler went out yesterday and I didnt notice until there was no heating or hot water this morning.

I tried all day to reignite, by putting water & heating control on the timer to continuous and by putting thermostat switch to high, as advised by the manufacturer.

This didnt work and by 5.00pm, I had removed and replaced the boiler housing and strangely it reignited.

Anybody any ideas why this would happen or is it just a coincidence ?

If a coincidence, what could be my problem with a difficult to reignite pilot light ?

I have a 20 year old Apollo 30/50 boiler.

probably needs a new part around the pilot area, but you need a proper gas engineer to check flue, case seals etc
