Hi, I have various spotlights throughout the house, and they simply twist out so that I can change the bulb easily. However, the bathroom light directly above my shower is presenting a problem: I can get the initial casing out but teasing out the 2 spring-loaded clips (wrecks the plaster!) but once out, I cannot see how I can get the bulb out of the solid metal casing. It's as if the rim of the bulb is sandwiched between the outer ring and the inner metal enclosure. Any suggestions please? Do I unscrew the entire L-shaped bracket attached to the metal casing and disconnect the bulb and replace the entire fitting (outer ring, with metal casing AND bulb?). Maybe it will release the bulb?? Thanks folks!

Normally to remove the lens from the bezel to access lamp/bulb. A quarter turn (anticlockwise) of the the lens cover is required. Some lens covers are inner ring and some cover the whole fitting, also some lens covers are snap fitted. Which means a small flat headed screwdriver or similar is required to prise it away, you may see on fitting a small slot along the edge of the lens cover, that allows access for a screwdriver.

It is possible if the fitting is within a shower area that the lamps are 12V and transformer is connect to it.

Another thing to add, the more modern type downlights do also come as a complete unit. So no access to lamp/bulb. But they have only come on to the domestic market in last couple of years.
