Problems downloading the new version of Media Player

I have tried on numerous occasions to download this to no avail- it keeps telling me that it was unable to complete download.

Are you on a 56k dial-up connection? If it's dropping the connection I was thinking it was the idle time-out. It's a long time since I had dial-up but think that downloading may count as idle time, often about 20 mins. The MS updates resume the download where it left off, so I would have expected the Media Player download to do the same.

I am on broadband so I just can't quite comprehend what is going wrong here.
I shall give download.com a go and keep you updated.

No joy there either- a wee box pops up at the end saying " failed to verify signate"- is there something in security/settings I could adjust to permit this.

What OS are you running? Also check the system requirements. It sounds like the file is either corrupted on download, or has not been signed. Have you tried downloading from the Microsoft website?
