Hello anyone, HELP! Have just had 150mm x 19mm solid oak laid throughout downstairs. We are having a nightmare, it seems that in some areas the boards are lifting along in a ridge, creating a mini 'trampoline' effect. Boards were left to acclimatize, the house is a 1930's style, with extension after extention, so a few corners had to be gone round. The man who fitted it for us has done this before, so we dont think its him! BUT, since the floor has been put down we have had a really hot weather week, then really humid, then really wet, could this be a reason? He also said that when he was laying the floor that there were 4 differences of levels with the areas we were having the floor, which he had to deal with first. The floor is a floating one. What else do you need to know? Is it just a case that he probably hasnt left enough of a gap around the edge? He is a really good mate of ours and I dont want to have to keep dragging him back to try to sort it out!

First question: have you asked your friend to come and have a look?
Weather of late could be an influence too.

What did he use as underlayment and how did he sort out the level differences?

what is the moister reading of the subfloors? What is the moister readings of the wood flooring before laying? What are the moister readings ( humidity ) of the areas the flooring is installed in? What is the maximum width/length of the area the floor is installed? How much unlevel are the subfloors? I guess your friend knows what the are doing if they fitted the flooring and will have the results recorded ?

We will need to know this info to tell you where or what has gone wrong. If you can update this info i or woody should be able to help you with a solution to fix your problem.
