Hi

We had a new oil boiler / heat store system installed at the property we have been renovating. It’s a Worcester greenstar danesmoor 12/18 boiler. we have a set up that seems to check the temperature outside and heat an appropriate amount of water within a certain temperature range. Coming from a simple combi boiler it seems massively complicated and we have yet to receive a full run down from the plumbers as to how it’s all supposed to work.

Central heating and hot water worked this morning. The Resol unit read SU 62 and SL 52 (I took a note as I hadn’t a clue what it all meant). However, by this afternoon the boiler room had gone cold and there was no heat or hot water. The only thing I can find is a valve which is reading under 1 bar, but because of the convuluted set up I can’t see any way of upping the pressure. The boiler downstairs doesn’t appear to have anything that would control pressure either.

I am obviously going to contact the installers but has anyone got a clue either how this system works and whether I’m missing something really obvious to repressurise the system?

Thanks!

Somewhere on the system is the controller - time and required temperature for heating and water.

Check the time and temperature settings.

Resol unit read SU 62 and SL 52
Temperatures - your photo shows 21.6 °C & 21.5 °C

As far as I can tell there is a traditional thermostat that controls the heating but it doesn’t seem to influence the water. I can’t work out what the resol or the other dial unit do other than tell me the temperature of the cylinder. We have immersion back up on electric and that slowly builds the temp up if I switch it on but obviously that’s not a long term fix. Could it be the radiators need bleeding or something?

Yes the photo is current, when the system was working it had the higher temperatures.

it won't

It would unusual not to have timer control for the heating - when you say 'traditional thermostat' could you post a photo

As usual an over complicated system it's all right for installers but they never tell the end user how it all works this thing outside which looks at what the temps going to be is a waste of fuel it's what's needed in the house what counts in my old fashioned head.Bob

Try again!

Also - I switched the immersion on a couple of hours ago and the resol unit has slowly gone up to 26c. The pressure has also started creeping up towards 1
