Problems With Samsung Flatscreen TV

S

Shutpa

Wifes mother has a problem with her months-old flatscreen tv. While watching a programme the screen will suddenly revert to a smaller size because of a 50mm black band appearing at either end. After a couple of presses on the picture size button on the remote, the picture will return to the normal size (16.9). She has to carry out this procedure several times a day.

Any ideas as to how the problem may be solved would be appreciated.

Possibly a setting go to menu and look for picture format settings it is possible it is defaulted on auto so if there is any old 4:3 stuff comes on it will change picture formats. You will need to set it to 16:9 and save or memorise that function.

Thanks for that. What exactly is "old 4:3 stuff"?

4:3 is the older picture format that suits the slightly older squarer tube tv's compared to the present current tv's now being produced which have a 16:9 format which is longer and narrower picture. It is the picture ratio dimensions

Also if you select the non dvbd channel it will go 4:3. Thats what I ment by check the settings.

another also, if your signal to your tv is digital via a sky box or freeview box make sure the picture format settings on your sky or freeview box are set to 16:9 this is the wide screen picture format this would be on the menu settings of your digi box remote control

Cheers for the info. The TV doesn't have a box because freeview is built-in.
