I have had a new Greenstar boiler installed and also a british gas RC PLUS programmable timer fitted as well.
I cant for the life of me get it setup how i would like.
Basically what i require is for the heating to come on at 07.00 & switch off at 08.00 @ 20 degrees every day of the week.
I have changed the number of programe events per day from 6 to 2 ok.
In the operating modes you have an option for 24hour = same times for each day of the week or 5:2 / 7 day option.
Which ever i select i dont get the option for switch on at required time/temp then switch off at required time.
What i think i get is switch on at required time/temp THEN adjust heating at the second setting time/temp,ie first setting input 07.00 @ 20 degrees second setting input 10.00 @ 8 degrees,so it is just reducing the temp at 10.00am to 8 degrees down from 20 degrees.
The instructions give you so many examples of what it can do just makes an easy setup hard as it confuses the issue,or for me anyway.
I have attached a photo of the timer in question and any help would be welcomed in getting it sorted.
Thanks very much.

I have just had a thought and wondering if it will work.
Set the timer to switch on at 07.00 @ 20 degrees for the first setting THEN 08.00 @ 5 degrees for the second setting.

Am i correct in thinking that this is the same as switch on at 07.00 20 degrees & off at 08.00 meaning the house wont fall below 5 degrees thus not being able to apply the second setting of 5 degrees at 08.00 so in effect it is switched off ?

If you know what i mean.

I think you've got it!

This type of thermostat do not have an "off" setting, just different time/temperature combinations. So if you want the CH to turn off, you set the required temperature to a very low value.

Presumably you come home from work at some time? So you need to set the third time/temp to 20C @ 1800hrs and the fourth one to 5C at 2300 (when you go to bed).

I know this has nothing to do with your post but are you using heating this at time of year?

Just out of interest really, ours hasn't been on yet!

We just plan to switch the CH on when we require manually in the evening.

Once we have finished with the CH in the evening am i correct in thinking that as long as i switch it back to the automatic setting just before we go to bed it will then take control again thus switching on at 7am the next morning.

Thanks for the advice.

We have been getting up early to watch the rugby and it takes the chill off a bit in the conservatory.
Also the cats like it :D
