hello,

I’ve searched but not found quite the answer I need.

I’m going to put a side door in to my garage. I need a lintel fitted, will I be able to do this without props?

It depends on the condition of the wall above, and if any joists are bearing on it.

We have done it with and without for door sized openings. Sometimes you may need one, two or even three props depending (as the chaps have said) what is happening above.

Worst case you will need to prop joists and have a strongboys prop handy to secure the brickwork too. Maybe even have a prop spare to help press the lintel into place. We have our own props and Strongboys so are free to grab what we need when we need it.

This is inside. What do you think?

The wall plate won't buckle across say 900mm unless you remove material directly beneath that join in the WP.
