Proving that a GS38 voltage indicator is working?

I'll be honest I'm a student doing electrical installation at college and they want two ways of proving the correct operation of a gs38 voltage indictor.
I know what it is I've seen one, but they never bothered saying how to proof it!

Does any one have another answer to go with previous reply?
