what's the best way to re-seat a prv that has blown and is dripping constantly??? any way without replacing?

From the outside to "click" it three or six times.

If that has really failed to remove the rubber seal and clean that and the metal seat. Its usually easier to replace it.

thanks for your reply

from the outside? how do you mean? sorry it's been a long day so apologise my idiotness

Sorry, I mean as a non invasive technique which does not need any draining or dismantling.

I examined a failed prv some time ago. I found by twisting the cap anticlockwise about quarter turn the cap raised about 3mm.
Beneath the cap there was no hexagon, but there was a slot.
I then made a ' C ' spanner and slackened and removed the head.
The head held a rubber washer which is held against a brass seating face.
In hindsight I realize I could have dismantled it in situ and cleaned it up.
But would it be as good as new? don't know but worth a try
I did find sediment that had got trapped between rubber washer and seating face
