PS warning light cleared on Micra

In my experience, the fault occurred when starting the car, resulting in heavy steering and so was aware of it when driving.
After the fault code was cleared the power steering is working again

Can anyone tell me id the fault can return while driving and catch you out?

I don't think anyone could guarantee that, but a couple of things that could help......
Park up with the wheels in the straight ahead position;
Don't turn the wheel or drive off until the engine has started up and stabilised;
Don't coast to a stop, engine off.
