Pub sound level monitoring units?

I don't like complaining and don't much like those spoil joys who do.

Most complain just because they can hear the music. They don't listen to the radio or TV at home.

My view is that a complaint is not valid if it does not prevent normal activities at normal times.

You've never lived near pubs then?
My neighbour has video footage of when a pub had a band playing by the back door (and doors and windows open). All her windows and doors closed (boiling hot day) and the TV on very loud and she still couldn't hear it. This is too much and not at all a 'spoil joy'. It's about keeping everyone happy and respecting both punters and neighbours and shouldn't be beyond the wit of man.

I live in a residential area which was originally a mostly Jewish area with very few pubs.

There are none within 1 km and the one closest is hardly good enough for me to want to visit it.

Are Council obligations subject to finances being available?

Councils provide services.

The actual provision of those services are subject to their decisions on the use of their funding.

The police now is euphemistically called the Police Service.

The Councils have powers to legally enforce things. I don't think they can say, for example, only until September when the money is spent.

The councils only enforce things when they chose to.

Usually when you upset one of their officers!


Police can be very choosey in what they decide to investigate!


I once reported a vehicle accident to the police. They asked why I thought they would want to know? I replied that the vehicle is a write off and the accident is blocking the north bound side of the A5 trunk route!

You never know you might meet some people of another culture that you may like! (there wasn't a tongue in cheek emoji)

That's the best thing (or one of the best things) about pubs; 'that' culture normally won't be seen in one. Totally free of them.
