driving to work last week in the cold, and noticed faintly on the dash the brake wear light on when braking,
I expected it to get brighter, but it only got slightly brighter that week.
the light has now ceased to show at all.

I have checked the pads, plenty on meat on them, which is what I expected, the pads and discs both front and rear are only 18 months old, and done just over 10K,

what was causing the light to come on? all the rear brake lights are fine (so no dodgy earth there) and there was still plently of space between the contact and the disc, so it wasnt normal operation.

help, brake wear lights are the one light I would like to work properly when the time comes.

Oh, its a 406 estate HDI 53 plate if it makes a difference

Pad wear lights have always been a bit touch and go.
Check the brake fluid level as sometimes the light doubles up as a low fluid light too, and maybe a handbrake warning light aswell

cheers, I will have a look at the fluid tomorrow, the hand brake light is seperate, and has an accompanied handbreak active beep/message on the screen.
thats the other bit, reading the handbook, if it was an actual activation of the pad wear indicator, it should be accompanied by a message.
having said that it seems to have settled for now.
