All,

I have replaced both the automatic Air vent & the complete diverter valve assembly.

Hot water seems to work OK but still no CH.

When CH switched on boiler fires up, the CH return pipe gets warm but the flow pipe stays cold. Using a screwdriver against the pump it sounds like its running and it gets very hot. After a few mins the boiler shuts down even the pilot light goes out.

Can anyone please suggest a fault.

Thanks

Ian

Not unheard-of though rather odd fault, unless the pump's in backwards - is that possible?

Check the flow valve is open (red handle, should be in line with its pipe).

The pump hasn't been taken out so it should be OK. Both taps are on, its the one with blue tap thats getting warm which is definitely return pipe.

The pump also gets v hot. Although the I can hear whining with screwdriver on pump how can I comfirm that it is spinning?

Any suggestions as to what else could be wrong?

Thanks again

Is it possible that the pump is full of air and somehow needs bleeding?

Any other suggestions about this problem?

Please help Im freezing!

Thanks

Its on the left hand side. There are 2 wires going to a brass housing, pull off one of the wires this will disconnect the flow switch and then if the heating fires and works the flow switch is sticking.

I tried this heating fires and starts to work then boiler shuts down as before. The CH return pipe gets warm the Flow stays cold. Also steam appears at the auto air vent and this one is hot!

Any ideas?

Thanks

It may be the pump is either stuck or spinning slowly. Have the isolation valves under the boiler been turned off at any time ? I have known some to snap in the off position. Remove the plastic covers and check to see if the are open.

The isolation valves have only been turned off today as we changed the diverter valve. Using a screwdriver against the pump and my ear I can hear the pump. But you may be correct it may be spinning two slow is this possible?

The hot water side seems to work ok.

Cheers

Ian
