Hi,
I've hit a problem! The unmistakeable sound of something dripping certainly wakes you up from a deep slumber, well it did me!
I have a Potterton Puma 80e and it's about 11 years old. I've had good uninterrupted service from it for the past twelve months, but today it has started leaking from the Automatic air vent.
I've turned the supply off and isolated the boiler by turning the inlet and outlet C.H. valves off and I've drained the boiler by removing the drain plug beneath the water pump. I did get some peculiar sounds whilst it was draining, similar to trapped air, but as I'm a novice that is pure conjecture.
I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what has caused this and is it possible that I can fix it.
Thanks for all help.

You just unscrew the old aav and screw in a new one, open it all back up and the air will come hissing out of the aav (if its open!). Be prepared for a leak from the valves when you open them back up though, there are almost no isolation valves I trust enough to turn off.

Been to parts centre, bought it, fitted it and H.W. & C.H have both delivered on demand.
Thanks again, ollski

(I hope I haven't called down the demons by making such a bold statement)
