UPDATE-
Just replaced pump head.
Most corrosion was on this and very small amount on top union.
Decided to not replace full unit so that I didn't have to open the combustion panel, and compromise gas safety. As to remove pump completely you have to remove c.c panel and burner.
Also fitted wireless stat and new thermostat control knob as knob had sheared off.
Good job all in all, and didn't stray into gas safety issues.
