Got a Gates belt kit which includes a new water pump.

No gasket or O ring for the pump in the factory sealed box.

Is the pump is installed with silicon?

It's very common for sump pans to be sealed with high temperature silicone but I've never come across this for a water pump....
Either it's an O ring, a paper gasket or a metal compressible one.
I think I'd call the nearest Fiat dealer to speak to the parts man and then look for signs of a gasket when the old pump is removed.
Sorry I can't be more specific! I have to say, there's always been some sort of gasket in kits I've fitted.
John :)

The part label on the Gates kit box states the included items -

x1 timing belt
x1 water pump
x1 tensioner wheel
x1 instructions

No seal or gasket.

Once I get the old pump removed, I'll see what kind of seal it uses.

By the look of the new one, an O ring may do which I can get farm a local agricultural engineers.

Thanks for the pic!
Now that we can see it better, no gasket is needed, but a line of silicone sealant must be applied in that groove that you can see - just inboard of the mounting bolts.
Bathroom silicone isn't really suitable - you need a high temperature stuff that a motor factor can provide. I use a sealant from Wurth - its black and low modulus.
Don't use an O ring here.

Thanks John

I contacted a local Fiat dealer earlier and as you say, there is no gasket or O ring for the water pump.

A bead of automotive silicone seal in the mating face recess.

I got a tube of automotive silicon seal so the job is go!
