purchase a gift on Canadian Amazon for Canadian delivery from UK account?

A friend's birthday is coming up.
I thought I'd buy a book that is just out, and common sense says to buy on Amazon and save the postage and duties.
I have a UK Amazon account.

ideas?
I could, but would rather not, set up a Canadian account but that's daft for a single book

I know it's like the usual cop out of giving money , but you could get an amazon gift certificate, just email them the code. We get them from my brother.

just seems weird that I could pay a florist via PayPal yet a multinational company with “branches” all over the world can’t send a package inside a country, paid by an individual in another country.
