Putting a Chandalier up

I'm putting a chandalier up, and am happy with the wiring side of things, but as it weighs 12KG or about 26lb (nearly 2 stone) I want to make sure it doesn't come crashing down at any point.

I was thinking about lifting the boards in the room above, and fastening it to a joist some how.

Any opinions or advice to avoid a Del and Rodney outcome ??

Sounds like the right idea - spread the load by attaching it to a block that is firmly attached to the joist. Might need to check what's considered suitable material vis a vis the electrics
