Hello

Im looking for some advice on hanging a very large picture in our lounge. The problem is it a plaster board/cavity wall so not sure how to go about this. Please can someone one give me some pointers?

Thanks

You say plasterboard with cavity.

Do you mean plasterboard fixed to wooden or metal framework?

You may be lucky enough to find an upright to fix to.

If not, consider using two fixings. You could get one or two fixings in the uprights.

If this is unsuccessful, because of getting the picture centralised, consider fitting a wooden batten across two uprights, then screw a fixing into the batten where the centreline of the picture should be.

Tap on the wall to find where the more solid parts are.

If the wall is of the dot and dab variety, ie plasterboard adhered to a block wall, drill into one of the dabs if there is one in the correct place.

Cavity fixings are available for plasterboard walls, but they are not brilliant imo.
