Someone told me that the citroen zx diesel engine is virtually the same as the diesels used in Ford mondeo's and escorts, pre common rail engines. As I have a good zx engine and would like to put it somewhere other than another zx could any one say if this true or not?.

If so would it be straight swop.

Cheers

Dunno about those engines being the same, but if they are I'd put money on it not being a straight swop. In my experience of cars the makers tend not to make life as simple as that. Even when they are using each others parts.
E.G. Volvo used to use a Ford braking system, until you try and buy a set of brake pads for the Volvo, the pads were 1/8th of an inch bigger and twice the price. Similarly my mate who runs a garage recently got a Skoda in with a knackered diesel engine. He bought an engine for a an Audi to replace it with. Both engines looked exactly the same and were made by VW. But the Audi engine didn't fit in the Skoda and he didn't find this out until he had both engines sitting side by side on the workshop floor. I'd be very wary if I was you. But I hope I'm wrong in your case. Nothing worse than having to dispose of a good power unit.

Willie.

Thanks Willie,

I don't want to have a car and engine that don't fit each other. I may have to rethink where this is going.

cheers

Sell the engine you've got on ebay and buy a mondeo one for the ford

I think getting rid of the zx engine and buying a new car is the way forward. Thanks for help
