hi all.
My renovation isn't going according to plan. Everything that can annoy me is annoying me.
Hope someone can help. I have a light fitting for my living room. It's 9.8kg so the instruction make it clear that it needs to be in a joist. If it was lighter I'd maybe use plasterboard anchors but I think at 10kg it's asking for trouble.
As per the image I have a joist running approx 9cm to the left. I could easily attach the light into this however it won't be in line with the downlighters on either side. Is there a safe way to brace onto the joist 9cm away to bring the light fitting in line with the downlights.
The irony is the original light fitting was in line with the joist but the electrician moved it because obviously the downlights could not be fitted in line with it.
Last thing I was to do is tear a larger hole in the ceiling than I need to and have to get the decorator back in to patch up and paint.
