PVA before filling?

Just wanted to check if brushing diluted PVA over the exposed gypsum of damaged plasterboard before filling with Easi-fill is recommended.

Will this help avoid 'flashing' when I paint the wall later?

Should I not bother and just fill without PVA and spot paint the Easi-Fill patches before rollering the wall?

Cheers!

Applying PVA to the damaged plasterboard will help reduce suction and prevent the easifill from drying to quickly and cracking, if the damage is excessive I would also apply a joint tape over it before applying your coats of easifill.
You may need two or three application of the joint filler and a light sanding down after each.
The repair is best primed before you paint it.
