PVC plasterers float

Has anyone used one of these? I saw one in local B&kQ earlier. Just wondered if it's easier to use than a metal float.

Yes, like that. The application side is textured, perhaps to aid in spreading and smoothing the plaster.

a poly float is not used for applying plaster.

it is used on render coats, plaster backing coats and floors, to aid the flattening and napping of those surfaces. some material is applied with this float but only in small quantities, where a 'hollow' might need filling.

it is a 'rubbing up' device.

we also stick a nail through one corner in order to scratch a surface, providing a key for the set or skim coat.

Here comes the old timer........... yawn.......

We used to apply finish with wooden and then fibreglass floats like the picture Still do if needed whre dow lighters , skylights , dormers need it.

Also we always use a few (4 or five) screws in the float to devil, they can be adjusted more easily and don't wear big holes in the float like nails .
